Matt Wells: Doing a Rather Decent Job
Do you agree? Who should be the Head Coach of the Texas Tech football team if it were up to you? Who are the best Texas Tech Football Coaches of all time? Is Matt Wells a future Hall of Fame Coach?
Just heard Coach Matt Wells on ESPN 700 to talk about the Fresno State game. I’m a big fan of how well he speaks and seems to get his team prepared for gameday. It can’t be easy to Coach at such a bigtime program but he seems to be as confident as anybody and I’m sure his players follow suit. I wonder how long he’ll stay…
I love how Matt Wells is active on Twitter. He’s a great fit for Utah State and he should be able to build quite a legacy here!
I don’t get how the Matt Wells hot seat conversations could NOT be happening after that loss to Arkansas State. 2 timeouts left and it should be the coach’s job to do anything possible to keep the ball out of the special teams hands down the stretch.
Ouch… took a step back with Tennessee. I thought we had a legitimate chance to beat em. Coach Matt Wells looked good as always though! 😉
I’m with you Ethan, Mountain West Coach of the year 2014. Look at our schedule,
Aug 31 Tennessee
Sep 6 Idaho State
Sep 13 Wake Forest
Sep 20 Arkansas State
Oct 3 BYU
Oct 11 Air Force
Oct 18 Colorado State
Oct 25 UNLV
Nov 1 Hawaii
Nov 7 Wyoming
Nov 15 New Mexico
Nov 21 San Jose State
Nov 29 Boise State
Tennessee will definitely be difficult but then we build off what we learn in that game and run the table all the way into the Boise game at the end of the year. Boise I’m sure will struggle this season with a new coach and so we squeak one out to win the conference and fight for a bid in the first ever college football playoff. Coach Matt Wells coach of the year 2014 after a given Mountain West Coach of the year accolade.
Coach Matt Wells is destined for greatness. I remember him when he play QB for Utah State in the mid 90’s and I always thought he should have played more than what he actually did. Coaches like Matt Wells are great for college football as he’s a family man that can get his players to buy into the family values of a team. Going 9-5 his first season as a Head Coach is just a testament to how well prepared this guy is for coaching. Look for Utah State to win the Mountain West in 2014 and Coach Wells a potential candidate for Mountain West Coach of the year. I just hope he’s loyal to his alma mater when the USC’s come knocking on his door in a few years (in a whisper voice).
Well we just signed Coach Wells with a contract extension worth $800,000/year through 2018 so it looks like the University is in it for the long haul. Great to see an Utah State alum coaching at his alma mater.
